Safe Driving for Seniors:
Safe driving practices are important at any age. Nevertheless, it can sometime seem like an insurance company is penalizing a driver simply because he or she has a few too many candles on the birthday cake.
Statistically speaking, it is true that older drivers are more likely to get into an automobile accident. However, for drivers with safe and responsible driving records, annual rate increases in the absence of any violations can be a source of frustration.
While no individual can do much about statistics or insurance industry trends, older drivers can take steps to make sure they are maximizing their discounts and maintaining safe driving habits. One way to do this is to take a safe driving course. These courses are offered at various community centers throughout Pennsylvania and are a good resource for older drivers looking to keep their premiums low. Typically, these classes do not involve on-the-road instruction or any type of examination. One class can save 5% or more on auto insurance premium for 3 years, as mandated by Pennsylvania state law. These courses are offered by PennDOT and encompass only a few hours of classroom instruction.
While there are many courses offered throughout Pennsylvania, we would like to draw attention to the safe driving course offered near our Pittsburgh North location in Cranberry Township.
